Development of Digital Learning Media on Geometry Material to Improve Junior High School Students’ Mathematical Reasoning Skills

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning influences the understanding of learning materials. However, students' mathematical reasoning skills are still low, especially in geometry. One way to address the low level of mathematical reasoning skills in geometry is through innovative learning media. Therefore, this study aims to develop learning media to improve students' mathematical reasoning skills at the junior high school level and provide interactive learning access so that students can learn independently.  The development method uses the Software Development Life Cycle (SLDC) Prototyping model, which includes requirement analysis, building prototype, and testing and refinement. The application was designed with integrated gamification features, such as missions and challenges, to increase student motivation and understanding. The application was tested through two stages, namely blackbox testing and compatibility testing. The blackbox test results showed that all the main functions in the application operated properly and met the designed specifications. The hardware compatibility test results also showed that the application could operate properly on all devices. These results indicate that the application runs well and is suitable for use.
